Junior Prospect: Gary Williams

Offensive linemen appear to be a recruiting priority for the Cardinals coaching staff and Gary Williams is another lineman that is receiving attention from U of L.

Gary Williams is an offensive tackle for Head Coach Lonnie Oldham's Seneca High School right here in Louisville.

Williams at 6'4 and 260-pounds has the type size that many offensive line coaches prefer. He all ready has very good height to match up with opposing defenders and his weight can be perfected with a redshirt season spent in the weight room, allowing trainers to improve his mobility and strength.

I recently visited with Williams and was informed that he has all ready made one unofficial visit this spring and is considering another.

"I went to Louisville for one of their practices and got to tour the facilities," said Williams, who is considering a visit to the Kentucky campus as well. "It was nice. They have a nice weight room and the football field looks great."

While he also sees some action as a reserve defensive tackle, he is being recruited as an offensive tackle. As a junior Williams didn't allow a sack.

Interest will only increase from regional schools if Williams has another performance like his junior season, when he was an all-district choice.

Williams told me that he'd love to play for Head Coach Bobby Petrino's Cardinals.

"I grew up a Louisville fan," explained Williams. "They are my favorite right now. I'd love to play for Louisville."
