Junior Prospect: Thad Jones

Continuing with our look at prospects in the Tallahassee area introduces Thad Jones. Jones is another member of the talented Leon High School secondary. I recently spoke with the talented defensive back and discussed his recent performance at the Nike Camp, schools of interest and more.

Thad Jones will be one of the most sought after defensive backs in Florida this year and Louisville is one of many programs that are all ready making frequent contact with the senior-to-be.

Jones (6'1, 198) will be playing for Leon High School for the first time this fall after transferring over from rival Lincoln High School.

While he has played both the cornerback and safety position, Jones told that he actually enjoys one spot over the other.

"I prefer playing strong safety," explained Jones. "I like to make big hits and that position gives me the opportunity to make more big plays."

He recently attended the Nike Camp in Gainesville, where he was timed with a 4.6-40 speed and recorded a 4.1 in the shuttle. As a junior, Jones recorded 59 total tackles, including one for a loss.

Having played at Lincoln High School, Jones told me that he knows incoming Cardinals Brandon Bradley, Todd Brigman, Willie Johnson and Brent Moody, all of who played at Lincoln last year.

He informed me that he has yet to visit any schools, but that he does plan on attending Florida's camp in the coming weeks.

When asked what schools are making regular contact with him, Jones provided me an impressive list made up of, Louisville, Florida, Syracuse, Iowa State, Georgia, Alabama, NC State, Miami & North Carolina.

Regarding current favorites? "Florida, Georgia and Iowa State are my favorites right now," said Jones.
