Junior Prospect: Antwon Thompson

Antwon Thompson is yet another prospect from Tallahassee that the Cardinals are expressing interest in. Thompson, also a member of the Leon High School secondary, informed me of his current favorites, as well as a childhood friend that is now a member of the Cardinals.

Antwon Thompson (5'10, 166) is yet another talented defensive back from Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida.

The early indication is that he will be one the the highest sought after defensive backs in the Southeast as numerous coaches have made an appearance at his school.

"It's getting started," said Thompson of his recruiting. "Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Troy State and Louisville are some of the schools that have come by all ready."

Louisville Offensive Coordinator Paul Petrino recently visited Leon and Defensive Backs Coach Joe Whitt Jr., will be making a stop there soon as well.

In addition to the visits, Thompson is also receiving regular contact from such programs as Alabama, Missouri, Miami, Florida State & Iowa.

With so many Tallahassee athletes committing to Head Coach Bobby Petrino's first recruiting class at Louisville, it's no surprise that Thompson has a friendship with at least one of them.

Thompson told me that he and Kolby Smith are good friends, dating back to their childhoods.

"Kolby and I are good friends," Thompson explained. "We used to play together in the backyard when we were younger."

When asked if he has any current favorites, Thompson told me that he is wide open right now, but that Florida State, Miami, Iowa State, Iowa and Louisville were his early leaders.

Thompson was an All-Big Bend selection as both a sophomore and junior.
