Bowles ready to announce decision

Hunter Bowles, an invited guest of Kentucky's when the Wildcats hosted Louisville, told he came away from the game more impressed with Charlie Strong's program. Wednesday, the rising tight end from Glasgow will announce his college decision. Will it be UL or UK?

Though Hunter Bowles was an invited guest of Kentucky's last weekend when the Wildcats hosted Louisville, the promising 6'6, 245-pound tight end from Glasgow told he was more impressed with Charlie Strong's program.

"I thought it was awesome getting to see Kentucky and Louisville play, of course," Bowles told "I really liked how Louisville utilized their tight end."

Bowles, who has offers from Louisville, Kentucky and Marshall, said it's clear that Strong has Louisville heading in the right decision. Could the game's outcome – a 24-17 win for the Cards – play a role in his college choice?

"It's a big confidence booster for me, especially as I make my decision," Bowles said. "I really like that he (Strong) plays his young players. You can tell Coach Strong knows what he's doing and it's obvious that he's got that program headed in the right direction. It was really obvious how good of a coach he was out there last Saturday."

Though Bowles is considering both in-state schools, he feels he'd fit better into Louisville's offensive system because of how they utilize the tight end. While UofL senior Josh Chichester caught just one pass for 5 yards against UK, he has more than 100 receiving yards through Louisville's first three games.

"When they played each other it really did show who does what," Bowles said. "I think it's obvious UofL utilizes their tight ends and I like how they use their tight ends better than Kentucky does. I'm partial to that position. It makes it easier for me to make my decision."

Bowles communicated with both Strong and UofL offensive coordinator Mike Sanford last week after the Cardinals big win over Kentucky.

"Coach Strong asked me what I thought about the game and if I was ready to be a Cardinal," Bowles said.

Bowles told that he will announce his college choice at his school Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Bowles also said he plans to attend the Louisville-Marshall game this Saturday at PJCS. He attended UofL's season-opener against Murray State.
