J.R. Smith updates ITV

ITV visited with J.R. Smith on Sunday evening and received an update on the progress of his recruiting.

The last time ITV visited with talented swingman J.R. Smith, he sounded as if he was nearing a decision to commit to Louisville. Well, it now appears, as is often the case with many talented athletes, Smith seems content on taking a little more time before making his decision.

During our discussion on Sunday, Smith informed ITV that he is wide open right now and will take more visits before making a decision.

"I'm wide open right now," said Smith. "I haven't really thought about it as much lately. I have decided to concentrate more on my play instead of schools right now and I've been playing better because of it."

Late last week, a source informed ITV that Louisville shouldn't expect to receive a commitment from Smith during his upcoming visit. The reason given was that former Rick Pitino assistant and current North Carolina State head coach Herb Sendek was making a strong pitch for Smith.

Smith told me that in addition to his unofficial to Louisville, that he has made plans to make an unofficial stop at NC State in a few weeks.

He is also beginning to consider what schools he will take official visits to. Louisville and Pittsburgh were two programs that he indicated he would take official trips to.
