McClinton, a 6'6, 175-pound standout ranked the No. 10 small forward in his class, visited Louisville last season for the Cardinals game against rival Kentucky and gave his most recent trip to Louisville high marks.
"I had a great time, I always do when I go up there," McClinton said. "I got to hang out with the players and saw them practice. I had a real good time."
McClinton was front and center Friday night at the KFC Yum! Center to watch Louisville's Red White scrimmage.
"It was a good game but it was crazy they played that long," McClinton said. "All of them played like 40 minutes. It was a good experience. The fans love Coach Pitino and Louisville basketball. Everybody up there is basketball fans."
McClinton, who claims a scholarship offer from Louisville, has a strong relationship with assistant Kevin Keatts.
"Coach Keatts come to see me every now and then. I call him probably every week," McClinton said. "We have a real good relationship."
Considered one of the most athletic prospects in the 2013 recruiting class, McClinton is adept at attacking the basket and plays with a non-stop motor.
"(Louisville coaches) told me I would fit in their style of play and how they could develop me as a player," said McClinton. "They kept telling me how they take care of their players and how I would be like a son to Coach Pitino if I went there."
"I have a lot of interest in Louisville," said McClinton. "They're one of the top schools on my list. All the schools that I named are my favorites out of the schools that are recruiting me."
