Ole Miss linebacker commit visits Louisville

Ike Spearman committed to Ole Miss earlier this month, but visited Louisville Saturday for the Cards win against Syracuse. Is the three-star linebacker giving the Cardinals strong consideration before signing day?

Ike Spearman, a three-star linebacker from St. John (IN) Lake Central, committed to Ole Miss two weeks ago.

Saturday, the 6'1, 215-pound prospect made a visit to Louisville to watch the Cardinals play host to Syracuse at PJCS.

"It was good," Spearman told InsideTheVille.com. "We were already in town seeing some family and just came to the game. We had a good time. We got an opportunity to watch the linebackers and they played well. We enjoyed the atmosphere."

Though he remains firmly committed to the Rebels, Spearman wants to fully explore all his options before signing day.

"I only get to go through this process once so my father told me to enjoy the whole process while I have this opportunity," Spearman said. "I'm still strongly committed to Ole Miss. I lived in Louisville for a couple years when my father worked at the Ford plant. So I have ties to Louisville. But my commitment is still strong with Ole Miss."

Spearman finished his senior season with 111 tackles and nine sacks. He's been keeping in touch with Louisville assistant Brian Jean-Marie.

"I have a relationship with Coach Jean-Marie," Spearman said. "he calls and checks up. It's all just conversation, that's it right now."

Spearman will make an official visit to Ole Miss next month.

"I'm going to officially visit Ole Miss for the LSU game," Spearman said.

Will he also make an official visit to Louisville?

"When I was making my decision Louisville was my second or third choice," Spearman said. "In this process you never know what can happen. I'm definitely secure with my Ole Miss commit and I'm not looking to take any other official visits at this time."
