Upshaw working on decision

As the early signing periods begins Wednesday, Robert Upshaw is working on a decision between Louisville, Fresno State, Georgetown and Kansas State. Upshaw's mother gave InsideTheVille.com an update Tuesday night.

As the early signing periods begins Wednesday, Robert Upshaw isn't talking to media or college coaches.

The four-star 6'11 center from Fresno, Calif., has made official visits to Louisville, Fresno State, Georgetown and Kansas State this fall and is working toward a college decision.

So what's the latest?

"Right now I'm calling it the ‘Upshaw lockout' because the family is at the table negotiating," Ceylon Sherman, Upshaw's mother, told InsideTheVille.com Tuesday night. "We've got to make sure we make the right decision for our son. We're trying to figure out what Rob's choice is going to be right now. We're considering signing this month. It's a possibility."

What about Louisville?

Rick Pitino and assistant Wyking Jones both made in-home visits before Upshaw's official visit to campus last month. There's been speculation that Louisville and hometown Fresno State could be the teams to beat for Upshaw's services.

"The only comment I can give you is all the schools we had a great visit and we're being recruited by great schools," said Sherman. "We're going to take our time to make sure we make the right decision for Robert."

Though Sherman didn't indicate when Upshaw would be ready to announce a college decision, she did mention a few factors that play a role in the decision-making process.

"Coach relationship, playing time, academics – a few things take part in what we're looking for," said Sherman. "All of them are great schools and we're being patient and finishing what we need to do to make the right choice for Rob."
