Rick Pitino was in North Carolina Friday night to watch 2013 four-star Winston-Salem Prep small forward Greg McClinton. The 6'6 McClinton, rated one of's Top 50 prospects, finished with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-3 FT), 5 rebounds, 3 steals and two blocks to help lead his team to a 67-48 win over East Surry, N.C.

"My shot wasn't falling, but I played hard and got hustle buckets," McClinton said. "It was nice (having Pitino watch) and I liked that. It made me feel like they really want me. So it was really cool that he came to see me play."

McClinton has visited Louisville twice and keeps in frequent contact with UofL assistant Kevin Keatts. Does Pitino's visit indicate the Cardinals are about to the turn up the heat on's 10th-ranked 2013 small forward?

"It's very serious," McClinton said of Louisville. "They're like on top of my list…they're one of the few schools that I really like. They've been recruiting me very hard. I've been talking to Coach Keatts a lot and the fact that Coach Pitino came to see me play…they've been recruiting me a lot harder."

McClinton said he's been talking with Keatts about making it to Louisville for one of the Cards last home games this season.

"I was talking to Coach Keatts about it but we can't find a good date because basketball season is going on," McClinton said. "We've got to get everything set up but we probably will go up there for a game."

McClinton said that he's also very interested in Xavier and hometown Wake Forest. Xavier assistant (Kareem) Richardson was also in attendance Friday to watch McClinton, who is a frequent guest at Wake Forest games.

"Coach Richardson from Xavier was there at the game last night too," said McClinton. "I go to a lot of Wake Forest games. We're also trying to get something set up with Xavier to go there for a game. They play in Charlotte (Saturday) and I was thinking about driving down to see them play."

An athletic slasher, McClinton, ranked No. 41 overall nationally in the 2013 class, is averaging 16.5 points and 8.8 rebounds this season. He's trying to answer questions about his ability to made outside shots and has worked hard to improve his shooting, hoisting jumpers every chance he gets and working with NBA star Chris Paul during the lockout.

"My shot has been a lot better," McClinton said. "I've been playing harder. I've just been working on my shot, that's been my main focus. I work out every weekend and get shots up and any time I'm free I get shots up in the gym with my AAU coach."
