2004 Prospect: Micah Jones

One of the most sought after players in the Bluegrass State for 2004 is offensive lineman Micah Jones of Mayfield High School. ITV spoke with Micah on Wednesday about the progress of his recruitment.

Micah Jones, a first team All-State selection as a junior, is attracting attention and offers from a number of programs throughout the region and elsewhere.

At 6'5, 325-pounds, Jones has the type of size that offensive line coaches covet and a glimpse of the schools on his list proves just that.

Louisville, Michigan, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Georgia, Miami and Mississippi are just a small handful of schools that have expressed heavy interest in Jones.

He has received scholarship offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi and most recently Michigan. However, Jones remains wide open and doesn't list any current favorites.

"I don't know who I like right now," explained Jones. "I'm just taking it all day by day right now."

Jones informed me that he doesn't plan on taking any unofficial visits or attending camps this summer.

"I'm going to spend my time lifting weights and working this summer."

Before Micah does begin taking his official visits, he told me of a few things that he'll be looking at when making a decision on where to visit.

"I want to see what the academics are like there. I will also watch to see how their season this year goes and how they did."

As a junior, Jones graded out at 86%. He bench presses 325, squats 450 and power cleans 275.
