Buchanan, who attends Joliet (IL) Catholic Academy, has all ready taken unofficial visits to Louisville and Illinois, but he recently told me that he anticipates making trips to Colorado, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, UCLA and Iowa as well. He also informed me that he hopes to make an additional visit to Louisville in the future.
His camp schedule includes stops at Illinois, Western Michigan and possibly Nebraska.
Scholarship offers have been extended to Buchanan by the Cardinals, Illinois, Ball State, Northern Illinois and Indiana. The three-year starter is also receiving consistent interest from Oregon, Florida State, Wisconsin and recently Georgia.
When I spoke with Buchanan he listed Louisville and Illinois as his two favorites, but then added that Georgia could also be a serious possibility. I asked Bobby to tell me about each of his favorites.
Louisville: "It definitely feels like a family there. I liked the campus, plus it is real close to my brother's (former Cardinal Ray Buchanan) mother-in-law's home. I like how Louisville continues to get better every year. I also didn't expect to see facilities like they have there, that was impressive."
Illinois: "It also feels sort of like a family there. The coaches feel kind of like fathers when off the field. I really liked the campus a lot. My girlfriend is going to Illinois too. Going there would allow me to do my own thing, while going to Louisville would be like following in my brother's footsteps."
Georgia: "Going there would be fun. My family could move there and we'd all be there. (Ray Buchanan plays for the Atlanta Falcons). They have just started recruiting me, but I'd like to check it out for sure."
