After struggling down the stretch, Louisville found a new gear in New York last week, winning four games in four days to win their second Big East Tournament championship. The Cardinals beat Cincinnati 50-44 Saturday night in the title game.
Davison won the Southern Conference by beating Western Carolina 93-91 in overtime last week. Davidson, who rank 12th nationally in scoring (78 points per game) and 19th in rebounding (38.9), finished the season 25-7. Led by sophomore forward De'Mon Brooks and junior forward Jake Cohen, the Wildcats notable win came against Kansas in December.
If Louisville beats Davison in the first round, they would play the winner of the New Mexico - Long Beach State game. New Mexico state is hot after winning the Mountain West Conference Tournament, a four-bid league. Louisville beat LBSU earlier this season.
Michigan State, the Big East Tournament champions, is the No. 1 seed in the West Region. Missouri and Marquette, who Louisville upset in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals, are the 2 and 3 seeds in the region.
