In a class without many quality options on the low block, Kennedy Meeks of Charlotte (NC) West is one of the best out there. He is a legit center with excellent hands, a nice touch, and a wide frame to carve out space. Now schools are trying to get him to campus as Meeks prepares to have a big summer.
At 6-foot-8 and 270 pounds, Meeks has the tools to be an impressive low post scorer. His touch is arguably the best in the class, and now he is trying to add more to his game.
"I have been working on my conditioning, shooting behind the three-point arc, and my post moves," said Meeks.
With that it is no surprise that some of the top schools in the Southeast have been showing him a good deal of attention.
The Tar Heels continue to stay in contact with Meeks, and seem to want to see what he can do this summer while playing for Team United during the Nike EYBL.
"They haven't offered me, but there is a lot of interest," said Meeks of UNC. "Like every other school they want me to come up to their school and see what it is all about."
When it comes to Louisville, the Cardinals are telling Meeks they think that it could be a perfect fit between the two parties.
"They are telling me how they can develop me to get me to the next level, and that I am the type of player they need on the low block," Meeks explained of Louisville.
Miami is already having a lot of success with someone who has Meeks' body type in Reggie Johnson, and now the Hurricanes want him to see what the school is all about.
"Miami wants me to come down and get to meet the players and the coaches and just see how they do things and how hard they work," said Meeks.
For now he is in no hurry to make any kind of decision, and plans to visit several schools before a commitment is made. Instead he is focused on the summer, and that means his one big goal.
"Our goal is simple," said Meeks. "We want to win the EYBL."
