Strong's staff goes recruiting

Charlie Strong's coaching staff is on the road recruiting this week. Strong's assistants visited several committed prospects, a pair of four-star Florida defensive linemen and one of the top 2014 prospects in Indiana. has a rundown…

Several of Charlie Strong's assistants hit the recruiting trail this week to keep tabs on Louisville's top 2013 prospects.

One of the main priorities this week for Strong's staff is checking in with the Cardinals 2013 commitments. Monday, Louisville assistant Dave Borbely visited four-star Lexington Catholic quarterback Kyle Bolin, while Tommy Restivo checked in with three-star tight end Keith Towbridge in Toledo. Sherrone Moore hit up three-star Lithonia, Ga. linebacker Jacarthy Mack and Ron Dugans visited three-star safety Donel Elam in Orange Park, Florida.

Moore, a first year assistant on Strong's staff, also visited three-star offensive lineman Shamire DeVine in East Point, Ga. Devine, the No. 28 offensive guard prospect in the nation, recently made a visit to Georgia Tech.

Louisville visited four-star DE Demarcus Walker of Jacksonville this week.
Dugans also paid visits to four-star defensive linemen Demarcus Walker and De'Asian Richardson while in Florida. One thing seems clear: Louisville faces stiff competition for both prospects. Walker, a talented defensive end from Jacksonville, plans to announce his decision next month. Alabama, LSU, Miami, Florida State, Clemson and Florida appear the teams under serious consideration, while Richardson, a top defensive tackle from Orange Park, told last week that Alabama, Florida State, Duke and Auburn top his list.

A former Florida State and NFL wide receiver, Dugans also visited Jacksonville, Fla., defensive end Marquis Haynes. Haynes visited Louisville during spring practice and also has an offer from West Virginia.

Clint Hurtt is making rounds in South Florida this week. Tuesday, he checked out Mackenro and Mackensie Alexander at Immokalee H.S. It sounds like the Cardinals face a serious challenge to get in the mix for those two standouts. Louisville also has interest in three-star Immokalee receiver Tshumbi Johnson, who is currently committed to USF.

A representative from Strong's coaching staff also was in Indianapolis Tuesday to visit Dominique Booth, a talented 2014 wide receiver from Pike with several Big 10, SEC and Big East offers.
