Four pushing hard for Martin

Jarrell Martin, a four-star power forward from Baton Rouge, La., spoke about the five programs that are recruiting him the hardest at the NBA Camp in Charlottesville, Va.

Jarrell Martin, a four-star power forward from Baton Rouge, La., said that UCLA, Baylor, Louisville and LSU are recruiting him the hardest.

"Those are the main schools I've been hearing from lately," said Martin at the NBA Top 100 Camp.

Martin said a lot of schools have contacted his high school coach to express interest, including Louisville, Marquette, UCLA, Baylor, LSU, Alabama and Mississippi State.

During the season, Martin made an unofficial visit to Louisville and assistant Wyking Jones has maintained contact with the 6'8 forward.

"When I went up to visit it was nice," Martin said. "Wyking is a great guy and calls and checks on me. They mainly talk to my coach and he tells me that Wyking calls and asks how I'm doing."

Though several big-time schools are hoping to lure Martin away from his home state, new LSU coach Johnny Jones is pressing hard to keep the standout home for college.

"LSU's new coaches are cool," Martin said. "I've talked to them one time. They said they like to get up the floor and that's pretty much my game."

Martin says he's hoping to make a college decision by the end of the summer, but plans to take his time and make a good decision.

"I'm just going to go wherever fits me best and will get me to the next level," said Martin.
