A five-star prospect and the No. 1 center in the Class of 2013, according to Scout.com, the 6-10 Walker told Slam Magazine recently that he's considering seven programs. Those fortunate programs include Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Baylor and Syracuse.
Thursday, Walker Tweeted photos of the arenas of Florida, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisville with varying messages. On the photo he posted of the KFC Yum! Center on Instagram, Walker wrote, "Would be a nice gym to play in."
"Louisville is in the final chunk of schools under consideration," said Matt Ramker, Walker's AAU coach. "You know Kansas, Florida, Florida State, Baylor, Syracuse are the schools he's mentioned the most the past couple months."
Ramker said Louisville has done of good job recruiting his star player.
"From what Chris has told me Louisville has done a very good job recruiting [him]," said Ramker. "Coach Pitino has a certain allure to him. He's a Hall of Fame coach, that's attractive for kids to potentially play for him. So I think they've done a very good job."
If Pitino hopes to land Walker he might have to beat out his former player and assistant, Billy Donovan.
"When we have top players in the state of Florida we have a very good school right here in our backyard and Coach Donovan has done an excellent job," Ramker said. "So the Gators will always be in contention for top players in the state of Florida."
Ramker says he expects Walker to make official visits in the fall before he makes a college decision.
"Him and his mother have told me they're looking to make a decision in the fall," Ramker said. "They're going to take some visits. That's pretty much the course of action that he'll be on. I don't think he's making a decision in the next week or so."
Walker hasn't set up any official visits at this point, and Ramker said he probably won't do that until next month. Walker will play with the Florida Rams next week in Indianapolis at the adidas Invitational.
