Louisville in touch with Walker 'every day'

One common theme with some of the top University of Louisville Class of 2013 basketball targets is how much the staff has remained in contact with the prospect in recent weeks. A top-10 prospect told Cardinal Authority that he talks to U of L assistant coach Kevin Keatts every day.

Bonifay, Fla., forward Chris Walker has narrowed his list down to four schools but told Cardinal Authority that Louisville is "in contact with me more than anybody, really."

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound Walker, ranked No. 7 in the Class of 2013 by Scout.com, said he'll be surprised the first day that he doesn't get a text from U of L assistant coach Kevin Keatts.

"He hits me up all the time," Walker said with a smile. "He texts me every day. And that's a big part of it. Relationships are one of the biggest things to me. I want to be able to play for someone I have a good relationship for.

"I like the coaches at Louisville. I like coach (Rick) Pitino and coach Keatts a lot. I want to get up there and make a visit. I like Louisville, a lot."

Walker, who was one of the top players in Indianapolis last week, helped Florida Elite to the adidas Invitational title on Sunday. While in Indy, Walker was watched in five games by someone from the U of L staff, including twice by Pitino.

He said during the event that Florida, Kansas, Louisville and Kentucky were "probably at the top" of his list. He has offers from all those schools except Kentucky.

On Monday, Walker tweeted that he "can't wait to visit the four."

As far as on the court, Walker said he's been trying to work on his game to become more consistent. He averaged close to a triple-double last season at Holmes County High School.

He said his biggest improvement is now having "a face-up game."

"I'm getting better and trying to work hard," he said. "I want to be the best I can be, so that's why I have been working hard on my overall game."

And what about his college decision?

Walker said he'll wait until after July is over and then try and set up some visits, likely to all four of his top schools. He said there's a chance he would sign in the early period but "wasn't sure."

"I think I will know when I am ready to make a decision," he said. "I like all the schools right now. I like talking to the coaches and I like building relationships. We'll just have to wait and see."
