Louisville opens football camp

Football season is here and the University of Louisville football team is prepared to take the field for the first practice of the season on Friday. Check out details and Cardinal Authority will be on hand for the practice.

The Cardinals are picked to win the Big East Conference and the hype is building around the team with a lot of experience returning.

But as practice opens, the players and coaches say they're not worried about what people are saying but just glad to be on the field.

The first practice will be open to the public and media on Friday at 5:45 p.m., along with the second practice at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will then take off Sunday before preparing with closed practices the rest of fall camp.

"We're ready to go," U of L coach Charlie Strong said. "We have a long way to go and a lot of work to do, but we're just glad we're (going)."

A total of 104 players have reported for camp.

Senior offensive lineman Alex Kupper said it will be nice just to get on the field and begin preparing for the Sept. 2 opener against Kentucky.

"I can't wait," Kupper said. "We have a lot of work to do and a lot of guys are hungry. Now, we just have to go out there and prove ourselves."

Cardinal Authority will be at The Opening two practices and have camp reports and a photo gallery from the event.
