Q&A: Peyton Siva at adidas Nations

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – University of Louisville basketball players Peyton Siva, Gorgui Dieng and Wayne Blackshear all three compete as college counselors in the adidas Nations this weekend in Southern California. Siva, the senior point guard and team leader, chatted with recruiting analyst Josh Gershon.

Q: What does having three guys at adidas Nations do for Lousiville?

Siva: "It's really good for us. It's a chance for us to improve and get better acquainted as teammates. It's good for us playing against the competition at this camp. We're really enjoying every minute of it."

Q: How have your two teammates played here?

Siva: "I think they've done really well. Gorgui has gotten really big and he's holding his own. He's shown a lot of people his upside. He's ready for a big year next season. Wayne Blackshear is shooting the ball really well and taking a lot of good shots. I feel really good about them and can't wait to play alongside them this year."

Q: And how have you improved your game?

Siva: "I've tried to improve on my decision making and changing speeds. Of course I'm always working on my jump shot but it's been on and off this weekend so I'm trying to be more consistent."

Q: So are you healthy now?

Siva: "I'm getting a lot better. My ankle is still swollen but it's getting a lot better. I'm able to jump off it now and I'm doing really well."

Q: What are the expectations for this season and will it be different playing with a target on your back?

Siva: "We want to get further than we did last year. We want to make the Final Four. I think we'll have a better team than last year but we need to stay humble and hungry and pray we don't get hurt. We're used to being the underdogs but we need to stay humble and play every game like it's our last.
