Donta Smith addresses Internet rumors, Wade commit

Donta Smith spoke with ITV Monday evening about Internet rumors, his play at the JUCO camp in Indianapolis over the weekend and Lorenzo Wade's commitment to Louisville.

6'7 Donta Smith played extremely well at Rick Ball's three day JUCO camp in Indianapolis over the weekend.

"It went real well," Smith told ITV.

Some reports on the Internet over the weekend claimed Smith scored 48 points during one of the 10 games he played in. While Smith couldn't confirm he scored that many points, he did say, "but I did score a bunch that game."

Apparently, some UK fans have attempted to stir up rumors on other message boards, claiming Smith was wavering on his commitment to the Cards and thnking about the big blue. But according to several close to the UofL program that we've checked with in recent days and from Donta himself, those rumors are the farthest thing from the truth.

"That's ridiculous," Smith responded when asked about rumors that he's rethinking his commitment to UofL. "I'm staying with UofL."

Smith learned of 6'6 Lorenzo Wade's commitment today and was asked by ITV if the forward's commitment could possibily make him rethink his commitment.

"No," Smith responded to that question. "Let the best man win."

Smith will continue to work out at Oldham County High School and at UofL the rest of the summer before heading back to Southeastern Illinois CC for the fall semester.
