Nacarius Fant had a pretty special weekend.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back from Bowling Green High School kicked the weekend off with a performance that saw him haul in 15 catches for 239 yards on Friday in a 38-31 win over state powerhouse St. Xavier.
On Sunday, Fant picked up his first college scholarship offer – Illinois – and traveled to Louisville for an unofficial visit at the U of L-Kentucky game.
"It was a lot of fun," Fant said of the weekend. "(The offer) is just now hitting me. I am just so excited to have an offer and from a Big 10 school.
"The game was great. The fans and the facilities at Louisville are really good. I like the offense and had a lot of fun watching the game."
Fant, one of the state's top prospects in the Class of 2014, said he's been talking to Louisville for a while and is hoping for an offer from the Cardinals.
"That would be nice," he said. "Their offense is real tough. Teddy Bridgewater and DeVante Parker are so good together."
Fant was invited to go to a UK game in a couple of weeks and has other schools involved. But he said Louisville and Illinois have been on him the longest.
"Louisville will probably be one of the school I look at the hardest," he said. "Of the bigger schools, Louisville and Illinois were on me first."
Bowling Green product Joe Manley is a freshman lineman at U of L, while the Cardinals are also recruiting Bowling Green junior quarterback Devin Hayes, who was also at the game on Sunday.
Fant added a second offer on Tuesday from Western Kentucky University.
