The 2012-13 Louisville women's basketball schedule features 26 televised games, including nine on national television. The 30 game schedule also features 18 games against teams that participated in postseason play last year and 16 games against opponents that finished ranked in the Top 100 of the RPI.
"This year's schedule will challenge our team and get them ready to play in the BIG EAST and the NCAA Tournament," head coach Jeff Walz said. "We believe in playing the best and that's how we've grown our program and our attendance. Our schedule is a blend of former national champions and teams that are picked in the Top 25. Two of our first four home games are against Top 10 teams and we look forward to the early challenges and playing in front of our great fan base."
The Cardinals will appear on the ESPN networks four times, including a BIG Monday game at Notre Dame on Feb. 11. Louisville will also appear on CBS Sports Network four times and the BIG EAST TV Network once. Every home game will be televised again for the third straight season. Local coverage will be announced at a later date.
The Cardinals will face their first outside competition in an exhibition game against Eckerd College on Oct. 31 in the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville will tip off the regular season with a highly anticipated game against nationally ranked Texas A&M on Nov. 9 in the KFC Yum! Center at 7:00 p.m. Then the Cards will host Portland on Nov. 11 at noon.
The Cardinals will then head to the road for a five game road swing. The Cardinals will begin the stretch on Nov. 15 at Austin Peay. Then Louisville will travel to the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from Nov. 20-22. The Cards will face Central Florida in the first round on Nov. 20.
The next game the Cardinals will face either Gonzaga or Missouri State. On the final day of the tournament Louisville could face UC Santa Barbara, Oregon State, Mississippi State or Winthrop. The Cards will then wrap up the road stint at UT Martin on Nov. 26
Louisville will return to the friendly confines of the KFC Yum! Center on Nov. 28 as they host Eastern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals will host in state rival Kentucky on Dec. 2 for a nationally televised game at 2:00 p.m. The Cards will face Valparaiso at home on Dec. 8 before traveling to Colorado for a game on Dec. 14. Louisville will wrap up the month of December with three straight home games. The Cards will host Washington State on Dec. 18, Wagner College on Dec. 21 and Tennessee State on New Year's Eve.
The BIG EAST conference is coming off a season that saw a record eight teams advance to the NCAA Championship and five teams to the WNIT. The conference slate features home games against Rutgers, Cincinnati, St. John's, Georgetown, South Florida, Pittsburgh, DePaul and Seton Hall. The Cardinals will kick off BIG EAST play at DePaul on Jan. 5 for a nationally televised game on BIG EAST Network. The Cardinals will kick off the home league slate against Rutgers in the KFC Yum! Center on Jan. 8 for another nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network.
Louisville will then travel to Providence on Jan. 12 and then to Connecticut on Jan. 15 for a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network. They will then host Cincinnati on Jan. 18 before travelling to Marquette on Jan. 22 for another televised game on CBS Sports Network.
The Cards will host St. John's on Jan. 17 to be televised on ESPNU before travelling to South Florida on Jan. 30. Louisville will host Georgetown on Feb. 2 and Pittsburgh on Feb. 9. On Feb. 11 the Cardinals will travel to Notre Dame for a Big Monday game on ESPN2.
The annual Pink Game will be on Feb. 17 against DePaul as part of the Play for Kay on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m. Louisville will then host South Florida on Feb. 20 before travelling to Villanova on Feb. 24. The Cardinals will host Senior Night on Feb. 27 against Seton Hall at 7:00 p.m. The regular season will end on the road at Syracuse on March 4.
The BIG EAST Conference Tournament will be held in Hartford at the XL Center on March 8-12.
Season ticket prices for the 2012-13 Louisville women's basketball season begin at just $2.50 per game when fans purchase a Family Plan of four or more general admission tickets for $40 each. Other season ticket options include Midcourt and Sideline tickets at $80 per seat (plus a $25/$75 donation respectively per season ticket account to the Cardinal Athletic Fund) as well as Chairback seats for $80 each.
