The University of Louisville has already landed several preseason accolades in national polls and now the Cardinals have one in the conference.
On Wednesday morning, the Cardinals were selected as the unanimous favorite to win the Big East Conference during media days held at the famous New York Athletic Club in downtown.
The Cardinals after finishing 31-6 and making it to the Final Four last season are expected to be one of the top teams in the country this winter.
U of L coach Rick Pitino has three starters returning, including Big East Preseason Player of the Year Peyton Siva. The senior guard averaged 9.1 points and 5.6 assists as a junior.
Junior center Gorgui Dieng was named to the first-team All-Conference team, while sophomore forward Chane Behanan was named to the third team.
U of L received first-place votes from every conference coach except Pitino, who couldn't vote for his own team. Syracuse was selected second in the conference, followed by Notre Dame, Cincinnati and Georgetown.
Pittsburgh's Steven Adams was picked as the Rookie of the Year.
Joining Dieng on the first team is Cincinnati's Sean Kilpatrick, Georgetown's Otto Porter, Notre Dame's Jack Cooley and Providence's Vincent Council.
