Strong reacts to 45-26 loss to Syracuse

The University of Louisville football team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, a 45-26 defeat at Syracuse. Here are a few comments from after the game.

Louisville coach Charlie Strong

On the overall effort: "I am very embarrassed today for our program."

More on the overall game: "The flaws really showed up. But you come on the road and you are going to get flaws. You have to be prepared. No. 1, you have to pack your defense. We didn't pack our defense today. You have to pack your special teams. We didn't pack our special teams. It's discipline. We weren't a very disciplined football team today."

"A total embarrassment. You would have like to think that we would have come in here and played better. We didn't play well at all – offensively, defensively or special teams."

On the noise in the Carrier Dome: "We just didn't execute. The noise (in the Carrier Dome) had nothing to do with it. This place wasn't so loud. We just were not prepared to play."

On the defense: "We just didn't play good defense. We didn't do a good job getting off blocks, didn't do a good job covering and didn't do a good job of tackling."

On offensive execution: "The throws were there. We had wide receivers running open. We had guys running open. It wasn't because of what they did, it was because of what we did to ourselves."

On the future: "We're not going to worry about winning the conference. Let's go worry about going to get better for ourselves.
