Gorgui Dieng sidelined with a broken wrist

University of Louisville starting center Gorgui Dieng will be sidelined an undetermined amount of time with a broken wrist. Dieng, who missed Saturday's game against Duke, had an X-Ray on Sunday the school announced.

The University of Louisville announced on Sunday night that starting basketball center Gorgui Dieng is out indefinitely with a broken left wrist.

Dieng had his wrist X-rayed upon the team's return from a trip to the Bahamas and the school said it showed a broken scaphoid bone. He is expected to see a hand specialist on Monday to determine the prognosis.

Dieng, who averaged 8.2 points and 8.0 rebounds, fell on his wrist on Friday night during the first half of a win over Missouri. He came back into the game with his left hand wrapped and played a total of 24 minutes.

Considered one of the top centers in the country, Dieng didn't dress for Saturday's game against Duke.

U of L, which plays host to Illinois State on Saturday at 1 p.m., will use sophomore Zach Price and senior Stephan Van Treese in his place.
