University of Louisville football commitment Keith Towbridge had four catches for 70 yards, including a key catch on the game-winning drive, and added two sacks to help lead Toledo Central Catholic into the Ohio Division II state final.
Towbridge had a big game in helping Toledo Central to a 20-13 win over Aurora in the state semifinals last weekend.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Towbridge caught a 43-yard pass that put the ball on the 5-yard-line late in the game as the Irish took the lead. He then sacked the Aurora quarterback on the final play of the game to seal it.
"It's been a lot of fun because not a lot of people thought we could do this," Towbridge said. "So, that's been fun."
Toledo Central will now square off against Trotwood-Madison in the state final on Friday night in Massillon, Ohio.
"We lost in the regional semifinals last year, so it feels great for us," Towbridge said. "We have really worked hard."
Towbridge, who said he is "still 100 percent" committed to U of L as a tight end, has 27 catches for 400 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
"The year started off slow for me, I was more blocking," Towbridge said. "But I have done more late in the year besides blocking."
