"I've been a fan of Louisville since I was growing up and really have always liked that school," he told Scout.com in July. "Also, I have a relationship with Coach Strong when he was down in Florida. We had gotten to know each other so when I got that offer from them I was real happy."
Middleton has visited U of L multiple times, including most recently in October for an unofficial visit for the Cardinals home win against South Florida.
"Coach Strong and I have just had a really good bond for a long time," he told CardinalAuthority.com.
His relationship with Coach Strong will likely be the deciding factor in Middleton's final decision between the Cardinals and Rebels.
"I have a few questions for the coaching staff when I sit down with them," Middleton said on Friday afternoon. "My main question though is about Coach Strong and the coaching change stuff. I want to know if he's going to be there."
Should Middleton feel comfortable that Strong remains committed to coaching at Louisville, then the Alabama All-Star could very well follow suit.
"I possibly could," he said.
Middleton anticipates enrolling at his school of choice in December, so a final decision will be soon coming.
"Probably within a week," he said.
