Behanan out with ankle injury

The injury bug has once again hit the University of Louisville basketball team. Sophomore forward Chane Behanan has a sprained ankle and will be sidelined for a week or more, according to coach Rick Pitino.

University of Louisville sophomore Chane Behanan had been coming on, playing his best basketball of the season in recent weeks.

Now, Behanan is on the sidelines.

Behanan stepped on the foot of teammate Zach Price in practice on Monday and sprained his left ankle. He will be sidelined for a week to 10 days and won't make the trip to Seton Hall with the team.

"He's probably going to miss four games," U of L coach Rick Pitino said.

Behanan leads the Cardinals with 7.1 rebounds a game and averages 11.4 points a game, which ranks third on the team. He's played in all 14 games for the Cardinals (13-1) and been in the starting lineup for 13 games.

He will miss the Seton Hall game on Wednesday and likely will miss Saturday's game against South Florida and the game at Connecticut next Monday. U of L will then play host to Syracuse on Jan. 19.

Freshman Montrezl Harrell, who replaced Behanan in the lineup for the opener because he was serving a suspension, will get the start.

Harrell is averaging 6.6 points and 4.4 rebounds a game and has played in all 14 games, appearing in 19.3 minutes a game.

Pitino said the extra minutes should "benefit" Harrell.
