After a couple of days of speculation about his future, University of Louisville football commitment Richard Benjamin told Cardinal Authority he is "solid" with the Cardinals and will sign next month.
"It's just Louisville and that's all," said Benjamin, a top athlete from Tampa Bay Tech who is expected to play cornerback at U of L. "Just Louisville."
Benjamin was getting a major push by South Florida and new coach Willie Taggart but said he has talked with U of L coach Charlie Strong and told him that he's 100 percent in the fold for the Cardinals.
"My whole concept is like this, you stay with the person who has been with you through everything," Benjamin said. "And not the one who has just come on when your stock is rising and they're trying to build a program."
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Benjamin has already taken his visit to U of L and said he's been in contact with several other U of L commitments.
Benjamin said he watched the Sugar Bowl last week and "was so excited."
"Coach Strong is great," Benjamin said. "I know I made the right pick."
A versatile athlete that could play on either side of the ball, Benjamin had 718 yards rushing and five touchdowns and 509 yards receiving and six TDs as a senior. He also had four interceptions.
