Behanan suffered a sprained ankle on Monday in practice and didn't travel with the team to Seton Hall for Wednesday's victory. U of L coach Rick Pitino said on Friday that Behanan is now "getting pain from a spur."
But Pitino said he expects Behanan to play against South Florida on Saturday when the Cardinals host the Bulls at 4 o'clock.
"It's actually not his sprained ankle that's bothering him," Pitino said. "In doing the X-ray they located a spur, and that's where he's getting the pain."
Pitino said Behanan has said he was "ready to play" and he's likely to see action while he may not start the game. He was originally expected to be out longer and perhaps miss as many as four games.
Behanan leads the Cardinals with 7.1 rebounds a game and averages 11.4 points a game, which ranks third on the team. He's played in all 14 games for the Cardinals (14-1) and been in the starting lineup for 13 games.
Freshman Montrezl Harrell started in his place against Seton Hall.
