Lexington Catholic quarterback Kyle Bolin pledged to Louisville over a year ago and this weekend he'll join a large group of high school prospects making an official visit with the Cardinal program this weekend.
Since committing to the Cardinals in September of 2011, Bolin has been active in reaching out to other prospects, often reaching out to them via social media. He views this weekend as a chance to grow closer to fellow commitments, as well as help in the recruiting process for those visiting that have yet to make a decision.
"I'm excited for the official visit this weekend," he told Cardinal Authority. "It's a great opportunity for myself and the other guys that have committed to hang out and get to know each other. This is a chance to start strengthening bonds with my future teammates. It also gives us a good opportunity to meet the guys that the coaches are trying to pull in on signing day."
A four-star prospect, Bolin has been impressed by the recruiting class that the U of L coaching staff is putting together and believes the official visit will help sway some of the undecided.
"I think they are doing an excellent job getting the guys that they want," he said. "It's a great opportunity because you have one of the best athletic directors in the nation, one of the best athletic schools in the nation, you can get a great education there and even the choir is the number two choir in the world. There's a winning attitude there and I don't see why anybody wouldn't want to go there."
With more than a year gone by since his decision, Bolin has never wavered in his choice and remains solid as ever.
"Today, I honestly feel like I'm in the best position that I could be in," he said. "I couldn't be happier with my decision and I'm glad that I could be with Louisville for the entire ride and be 100% committed and know that I have a spot and a chance to play for this great school and in front of a great fan base."
With National Signing Day just around the corner, Bolin is looking forward to making things official.
"I'm ready to get all the recruiting process over and start to get to work. I can't wait to get going."
Attending top-ranked Louisville's basketball game at the KFC Yum! Center against 6th-ranked Syracuse will be part of the weekend visit.
"That should be a great experience," said Bolin. "I'm really excited."
Bolin, who saw his senior season was cut short by a torn ACL injury, continues to impress with the progress of his rehab and has started running and throwing.
"Everything is coming along great," he explained. "At my last visit, my doctor was bragging to other doctors about my progression, so I guess when you hear that things are going well, it makes you smile a little bit."
"I don't feel any pain and my knee feels completely normal. I just have to make sure that I'm cautious and only do what the doctor tells me to do."
During his time under center at Lexington Catholic, Bolin threw for 7,038 passing yards and 63 touchdowns.
