U of L visit was 'awesome' for Indiana OL

Fishers, Ind., offensive lineman Drew Broughton is starting to generate some attention on the recruiting front. He attended Louisville's Junior Day last weekend and Cardinal Authority has an update on what he saw from the Cardinals.

Fishers, Ind., offensive lineman Drew Broughton attended the University of Louisville's Junior Day last weekend and had one word for it.

"Awesome," Broughton said. "It was great. I loved the visit.

"Just everything about the school, the coaches and the facilities was great. I really like coach Bedford. He talked to me when I got there and then we went and met with (line coach Dave) Borbely. They showed me around and it was really nice to get that kind of attention from (Bedford).

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Broughton said he liked the message that coach Charlie Strong sent to the prospects, including a lot of talk about academics.

"The overall theme was great," Broughton said. "The entire program concentrated on academics, which was a favorite for me and my parents. It was just awesome they put so much emphasis on academics."

A lineman with great footwork and an explosive step off the ball, Broughton said he has to work on his hand placement and pass blocking.

Broughton had 33 pancake blocks as a junior at Fishers.

His lone offer at this point is from Massachusetts, while he's also hearing from Akron, Central Michigan, Bowling Green and Ball State.

"I really liked Louisville a lot," he said. "Coach Bedford said he would be in touch and was going to come up and see me. It was just a lot of fun down there. I think I was a bit skeptical about the facilities. I knew the stadium was nice but every part of the facilities was just so nice. It was fun."
