Future U of L players battling for titles

It's tournament time for several University of Louisville basketball recruits. Here's a closer look at what the prospects are up to this weekend. Cardinal Authority will have complete coverage all weekend of the events.

  • Ballard High School junior Quentin Snider, who has been committed to U of L for more than a year, leads the Bruins into the Kentucky Boys' Sweet 16 on Thursday night. Ballard opens the event against 15th Region champion Johnson Central at 6:30 p.m. in Rupp Arena. Snider leads the Bruins in scoring at 19.6 points a game, while he's also averaging six assists and five rebounds a contest. Ballard is 29-4.
  • U of L signee Akoy Agau will be trying to lead Omaha, Neb., Central High School to its fourth straight Class A Nebraska state title. Central plays in the quarterfinals on Thursday against Papillion-La Vista in Lincoln, Neb. The semifinals are on Friday and the title game on Saturday. The 6-foot-9 Agau averages 12.7 points and six rebounds a game and can become the first player in Nebraska history to start in four straight Class A state title games.
  • U of L point guard signee Chris Jones leads Northwest State Florida College into the Region 8 tournament that begins on Thursday in Marianna, Fla. NW Florida opens against Palm Beach State at 3 p.m. Jones is the fourth-highest scorer in all of JUCO ball at 22.7 points a game for the Raiders. Jones was a unanimous selection to the All-Panhandle team by the media.
  • The season ended on Tuesday for U of L signees Terry Rozier and Anton Gill as Hargrave fell in the opening round of the National Prep Championships. Rozier finished averaging 28 points a game, while Gill averaged 27. Hargrave finished the season with a record of 38-8.
