South Florida safety "leaning" towards U of L

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong and his staff have had major success recruiting South Florida during his time with the Cardinals. Now, the staff is trying to pull a few more top prospects in the Class of 2014. Cardinal Authority has a story on a safety from South Florida who is "leaning towards" the Cardinals.

Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista safety Marques Gayot already claims four college scholarship offers and will add more in the coming weeks.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Gayot said he hasn't made visits to several of his suitors, but that didn't stop him from naming a leader.

"I am leaning towards Louisville to commit," Gayot told Cardinal Authority. "I know Louisville is a great school. It's also a great city.

"Louisville, they have top-notch facilities out there."

Gayot currently holds offers from U of L, California, South Florida and Florida Atlantic. He's also heard from North Carolina, Kansas and several others.

A four-year starter at Park Vista, Gayot recently added the U of L offer to his list. He said he hopes to make a visit soon to the U of L campus.

Gayot said he "wants to see" the facilities and the campus.

While he ran a 4.6 40-yard dash and believes he's still under the radar, Gayot is hoping his highlight tape and 4.6 40-yard dash speed will help the interest level.

Gayot had eight interceptions as a freshman, three during his sophomore season and after adding 15 pounds and two inches, he had two as a junior.

As a junior, Gayot was named first-team Class 8-A All-State by the Associated Press and was also named first-team all-conference.

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on his recruitment.
