U of L women now wait for NCAA pairings

The University of Louisville women's basketball team returned home on Tuesday after losing in the semifinals of the Big East Conference Tournament on Monday night in Hartford, Conn. The Cardinals will now prepare for the NCAA Tournament, which won't begin until March 24 at the KFC Yum! Center.

Despite a loss on Monday to No. 2 Notre Dame, University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz likes his position heading into the NCAA Tournament.

The Cardinals (24-8) have almost two weeks off before hosting the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament at the KFC Yum Center in March 24 and 26. The bracket will be unveiled next Monday.

"We're close," Walz said following Monday's 83-59 loss to Notre Dame in the Big East Conference Tournament semifinals. "We're close to being able to make a significant run and put things together."

U of L is projected as a No. 4 or 5 seed by several bracketology experts and has won 10 of its past 14 games heading into the tournament.

Walz has said his goal is to pack the Yum Center.

"My goal is to get 10,000 into (the Yum! Center)," Walz said. "Let's show people why I keep saying we have the best fans in college basketball."

Tickets for the first two rounds can be purchased through the www.NCAA.com website and at the Yum Center ticket offices. All-session tickets for adults are $32 and $18 for youth/seniors and college students.

*U of L will be hosting a "Selection Show" viewing party with the team on Monday night at the Yum Center. The show is 7 p.m. with the doors and the party starting at 6 o'clock. Admission is free
