Chris Jones ends season as national runner-up

University of Louisville basketball signee Chris Jones saw his season come to an end on Saturday night. But not before he was named a junior college All-American after helping lead Northwest Florida State Junior College to a runner-up finish in the national tournament.

The season is over for University of Louisville signee Chris Jones, who led Northwest Florida State College on an impressive run.

The Raiders took out the No. 1, 3, 5 and 8 seeds in the Junior College Division I National Tournament this week. But on Saturday night lost to No. 2 seed College of Central Florida 74-69 in the championship game on Saturday night.

NW Florida is the national runner-up for the second straight year with Jones running the show. The Raiders finished 29-4.

Jones struggled in the title game, hitting just 5 of 25 from the field. But he sparked a late 11-1 run that cut the deficit to three points.

Jones finished with 12 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

Jones finished the season averaging 21.8 points a game, which ranked him fourth in all of JUCO. He was named first-team All-American and was honored as the Panhandle Player of the Year for the second straight season.
