On Saturday, the 6-foot-6, 345-pound defensive tackle visited Louisville and took in the Cardinals spring practice.
"Their practices are real high paced and they were getting after it," Elam told Cardinal Authority. "It was only their third one, but they look pretty good for just starting off."
While on campus, Elam, a Scout.com four-star prospect, also had the opportunity to visit with the Cardinals coaching staff.
"It went really well," he said of his time at U of L. "I got to talk to Coach Strong and was able to meet the coaching staff again. It was a real nice visit."
In addition to Louisville, Elam has also visited Kentucky and Tennessee recently and has plans for more trips in the coming weeks.
"I'm going back to Louisville during my spring break and I'm going to Kentucky for their spring game and down to Alabama for one of their practices."
Elam believes that Tennessee will be the next to extend a scholarship offer.
"I think Tennessee is close to offering, so I'm waiting on that. I'm in contact with them a lot."
With interest continuing to build, Elam appears in no rush no claim favorites.
"It's really fun going through it all," he said of the recruiting process. "Being able to visit all the different schools and meeting with coaches is really fun actually."
"I'm still thinking about when I would make my decision, but I don't think it'll be early."
