Cards land second commitment of the day

The University of Louisville football staff has picked up a second commitment of the day and fifth in six days, landing Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista safety Marques Gayot. He's the seventh commitment in the Class of 2014.

Lake Worth, Fla., Park Vista safety Marques Gayot recently named a leader in the recruiting process, despite never visiting the school.

On Tuesday, the 6-fot-3, 205-pound three-star prospect committed to that school – the University of Louisville.

"I know Louisville is a great school, it's also a great city," Gayot said. "They have top-notch facilities out there at Louisville."

Gayot also held offers from California, South Florida and Florida Atlantic. He had been hearing from North Carolina, Kansas and several others.

Gayot is a four-year starter at Park Vista. He ran a 4.6 40-yard dash time recently at a camp.

Gayot had eight interceptions as a freshman, three during his sophomore season and after adding 15 pounds and two inches, he had two as a junior.

As a junior, Gayot was named first-team Class 8-A All-State by the Associated Press and was also named first-team all-conference.

Gayot is commitment No. 7 in the Class of 2014 for U of L, which has now landed five commitments in the past six days. Jacksonville, Fla., offensive lineman Karvaris Harkless committed to the Cardinals earlier today.
