Indianapolis lineman high on Louisville

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong said in February that his staff was trying to make some recruiting noise in the Indianapolis area. The Cardinals have landed a few prospects from the area in recent years and are trying to do the same in the Class of 2014. Cardinal Authority has an update on one of the best prospects from the area – Kevin Willis.

Indianapolis Lawrence Central defensive lineman Kevin Willis visited the University of Louisville for Junior Day in February. He returned recently and watched the Cardinals during the Spring Game.

Now, the 6-foot-3, 275-pound Willis calls the Cardinals one of his top three schools in the recruiting process.

"It was great again," Willis said. "I had a lot of fun watching them warm up and then go at it on the field against each other.

"I can't wait to go back. Louisville is ranked in the top three schools for me."

Willis has an offer from Indiana and has also been to Bloomington, Ind., multiple times. He's also visited Illinois, Purdue and Wisconsin and is hearing from Iowa, Northwestern and Cincinnati among several others.

As a junior, Willis helped Lawrence Central to an undefeated season and Class 5-A state title. He played mostly offensive line during his junior season but is mainly being recruited on defense by colleges.
