Softball has final regular-season home games

The University of Louisville softball team will host Georgetown in the final three home games in the regular season this weekend. The team will play a doubleheader on Saturday and finish the series on Sunday afternoon.

With six games left in the regular-season, University of Louisville softball coach Sandy Pearsall wants her team to finish the season strong.

The Cardinals have won 15 of their past 16 games and have risen to the No. 11 spot in the RPI rankings heading into the final regular-season home stand.

U of L (42-7, 15-1) plays what Pearsall called a "vastly improved" Georgetown team at noon and 2 on Saturday and on noon Sunday at Ulmer Stadium.

"We just need to stay up there (in the RPI) and that's very hard for us to do,," Pearsall said. "There's no way of doing it in our conference unfortunately. We just have to take care of business each weekend."

The Cardinals will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday for seniors Jennifer Esteban, Katelynn Mann, Chrisanna Roberts, Jordan Trimble, Alicia Wolny and Chelsea Leonard.

Louisville is led offensively by junior second baseman Katie Keller who is hitting .428 on the season with 10 home runs, 54 runs and 47 RBIs. Senior first baseman Wolny hits .417 with nine homers and 44 RBIs.

Caralisa Connell (25-3) carries a 2.07 ERA with 189 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .190 batting average in 179.0 innings.
