The University of Louisville football staff has been busy in recent weeks, visiting prospects and handing out new scholarship offers. Here's a notebook of nuggets for you from the recruiting trail in football:

CARDS HAVE UPPER HAND FOR TE

The University of Louisville football staff ahs evaluated and offered several tight ends in the Class of 2014, including Anthony Jones.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Jones is from New Orleans Edna Karr High School and said at this point the Cardinals would be the leader.

Jones has offers from U of L, LSU, Auburn, Florida State, Missouri, Louisiana Tech, Tulane and several others.

"Actually my top school right now, I have to give the upper-hand to Louisville," Jones told TigerSportsDigest.com. "They've been recruiting me the hardest and then right after them is LSU. Those are my top schools right now."

While Jones hasn't been able to make a trip to U of L just yet he said that's coming this summer to check out the campus.

"They were my first offer," he said. "I like the offense and the coaching staff. I really like the feeling I get from them and I like all the guys recruiting me."

The U of L staff has been checking out some of the top in-state prospects, including Bowling Green wide receiver Nacarius Fant.

One of the state's elite prospects in the Class of 2014, Fant said he received a visit from U of L last week and will camp this summer with the Cardinals.

He's also planning to attend camps at Ohio State and Kentucky.

Roberts attended Tampa, Fla., Plant High School his first two years of high school. He's the son of Alfredo Roberts, who is the tight ends coach for the Indianapolis Colts.

They are up there on my list, and the chemistry is strong between Coach (Charlie) Strong and myself. I can see myself playing there."
