Hancock to try out for USA hoops team

University of Louisville senior Luke Hancock has picked up yet another honor. The Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four in April has been selected to tryout for the USA Basketball Men's World University Games team.

It's been quite a run for Luke Hancock.

The transfer from George Mason started slow but ended his junior season – his first at the University of Louisville – as the Most Outstanding Player in the Final Four as the Cardinals win the NCAA national championship.

Now, Hancock has been honored again.

Hancock is one of 29 players from all over the country selected to participate in the USA Basketball Men's World University Games Team training camp.

The camp will be held June 24-30 in Colorado Springs, Colo., with the 12-player team set to be announced on June 27 or 28. The team will then participate in the World University Games from July 7-16 in Kazan, Russia.

A native of Roanoke, Va., Hancock hit 63 three-pointers during the season for the Cardinals. He averaged 11.3 points a game in the postseason and had 22 points in the NCAA national title game against Michigan.

Hancock finished the season averaging 8.1 points and hit 30 of 56 three-pointers in the final 16 games of the season – all U of L wins.
