The Cardinals scored their two runs in the second inning after Jeff Gardner drew a walk and was moved around the bases on singles Kyle Gibson and Zak Wasserman. Gibson scored the second run when Sutton Whiting hit a 2-out single to center field.
The victory set a new school record for wins in a season, as the Cardinals improved to 51-12.
Louisville advances to the College World Series for the second time in the programs history. Also a participant in 2007, the Cardinals will face the Indiana Hoosiers.
Louisville faced the Hoosiers three times this season, losing the first two meetings, including the season-opener, before taking the final game 4-3 on May 8.
