Cam Polk picks Cardinals

Cam Polk of Fischers (Ind) Hamilton Southeastern has held Louisville at the top of his list throughout the spring and on Friday he called Charlie Strong to commit. Cardinal Authority spoke with Polk about his decision.

Cameron Polk has visited Louisville on a few occasions during the recruiting process and he hasn't been shy about naming the Cardinal program as his leader. On Friday afternoon, all speculation came to an end as he made the call to commit.

"We've been in contact with them for awhile," he told Cardinal Authority. "Today my high school coach said to give Coach Bedford and Coach Strong a call, so I called them and got to finalize my commitment."

"It feels great," he said. "I've been waiting to do it for awhile and sitting tight. Finally it went my way, so I committed. It feels great and it's what I wanted to do, so I couldn't be happier."

Rated among the top 100 wide receivers in the country and a three-star prospect by Scout.com, Polk (6'2, 185) will come to Louisville as an athlete, meaning that he'll be evaluated as both a receiver and defensive back.

"They've put down as an athlete, but I'm hoping to play wide receiver, so I want to make sure I know all the routes," he said. "They didn't really say anything in particular, but I'm going to be working hard on everything and making myself better."

Despite his future position, Polk is an athlete that will strive to continually improve and be ready compete when he arrives on campus next summer.

"I'm someone that works hard and will do what I can to make the team better," he said. "I always try to make myself better."

Polk said that Head Coach Charlie Strong and defensive coordinator Vance Bedford were both excited to receive the news of his decision.

"He and Beford both sounded really excited," he said. "I'm looking forward to coming back down there and meeting with them again. They both sounded pretty fired up and I'm really looking forward to it."
