The University of Louisville football program picked up a huge late addition to the current roster on Saturday morning.
Three-star linebacker James Hearns of Tallahassee, Fla., Lincoln High School has signed paperwork to join the Cardinals this fall. Hearns announced his decision on Twitter and the school isn't allowed to make a comment on the signing until all of the paperwork has cleared through the compliance office.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Hearns was once committed to Florida and is considered the No. 43 linebacker in the country by Scout.com.
Hearns is the 17th player to sign in the Class of 2013 for the Cardinals with 15 of those players already enrolled in school. He's expected to enroll sometime in the next month and be with the team when fall camp opens.
Hearns parted ways with Florida in January and was then looking at U of L, Kentucky and South Florida. His high school coach told Scout.com just after signing day that he was working his way towards qualifying.
Before committing to Florida, Hearns had offers from Alabama, Miami, LSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame and South Carolina among others.
Cardinal Authority will have more later.
