Hancock will carry U.S. flag in ceremonies

Luke Hancock will be in the spotlight again this weekend. The University of Louisville senior has been selected as the flag bearer for the United States during the opening ceremonies of the World University Games on Saturday in Kazan, Russia.

Luke Hancock is at it again.

The University of Louisville senior guard, who was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, has been selected as the United States flag bearer – out of 280-plus athletes – for the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

"I am proud," Hancock said. "I am honored to lead the way for the U.S."

Hancock will participate on the 12-player U.S. team in the games that will begin on Sunday morning. He was selected to the team last week, just a few days after his father – Bill – passed away after a bout with cancer.

The Opening ceremonies are on Saturday.

The U.S. team will play the United Arab Emirates on the opener at 10:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday in a game televised on ESPNU.
