Louisville recruiting board for '14 class

A look at the top prospects the University of Louisville men's basketball program is recruiting this July. The Cardinals are in on more prospects but these are those of the most importance, according to Cardinal Authority.

The University of Louisville basketball staff heads onto the road this afternoon with three verbal commitments already in the fold for the Class of 2014. The Cardinals will now turn all attention to trying to land a couple of big guys. Here's a list of the top 10 targets for the Cardinals.

The 7-foot, 240-pound Turner is one of the fastest rising prospects in the country among '14 players. He's played well enough to move way up the list for any school in the country recruiting him. Could end up No. 1 on every list. The Cardinals will go all out this summer, trying to land the top prospect.

The latest:
Louisville made the cut for the final 10 in the recruitment of the 6-foot-9, 230-pound star from Chicago. Alexander is a consensus top-10 prospect and is ranked as the No. 3 post player by Scout.com. He confirmed last week that Louisville is one of the school's he wants to visit.

The latest:
The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Lyles is tops on the wish list by the staff heading into the month. He's narrowed his list to six schools, including U of L, Kentucky, Butler, Duke, Florida and UCLA. Many believe it's between U of L and UK and the Cardinals are expected to follow him all month. There has been a lot of U of L chatter in recent weeks, will be interesting to watch this month.

The latest:
The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Robinson is way up the wish list for the staff after putting on a show in front of Rick Pitino during the April evaluation period. Robinson is talented and would be a perfect fit for the Cardinals. Don't be surprised to see him as one of the guys the staff watches early and often.

The latest:
One of the newer names on the target list for the Cardinals, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound Okonoboh has a motor that keeps on running and a tremendous upside. He told Scout.com that Louisville is the only school he speaks with directly on the phone right now and the Cardinals are making a major push.

The 6-foot-7, 200-pound Cheatham was another prospect to make a major move in the rankings this spring and the staff has picked up the recruitment. Will be interesting to see how much attention the staff pays him this month, especially early on. Will know early if he's a prime target.

The 6-foot-6, 195-pound Oubre said the Cardinals are coming after him the hardest of any school – with Arizona – and he'll give U of L a major look. Cards will still look at him, but might want a bigger power forward.
