Pitino checking out top big men in Milwaukee

University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino celebrated his ESPY award on Wednesday night in a Milwaukee gym. Pitino and his staff are out on the road for the second evaluation period. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino was not in Los Angeles to accept his ESPY for Best Coach/Manager in sports.

Pitino was in a gym recruiting.

The U of L coach and his staff are back on the road for the second of three July evaluation periods for college basketball coaches. Pitino started the second period on Wednesday night in Milwaukee at the NY2LASports.com Summer Jam.

Joined by assistant coach Mike Balado, Pitino watched Memphis forward Leron Black with his Team Thad AAU team and then checked out the matchup between top big men Cliff Alexander and Myles Turner.

Pitino and Balado are in Milwaukee again today and have watched Isaiah Whitehead and a few younger prospects this morning.

The two will watch Turner, Alexander and Black again.

U of L assistant coach Wyking Jones was at the Nike Global Challenge on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C.

The Global Challenge has four U.S. teams and four International teams. Among the U of L prospects participating are Shaqquan Aaron and JaQuan Lyle – who are already committed to the Cardinals.

U of L target Kelly Oubre and some younger prospects are also in the event.

U of L assistant Kevin Keatts is also expected in D.C.
