Champs are headed to the White House

The University of Louisville basketball team is headed to the White House. The Cardinals will be traveling to Washington, D.C., this morning and will meet President Barack Obama around 2 p.m. this afternoon.

The celebration for the University of Louisville basketball team continues on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., as the Cardinals meet the President.

The entire U of L team – except Russ Smith who is playing on an All-Star team in Estonia – will meet President Obama at the White House.

The President always welcomes the NCAA champions and the Cardinals will take advantage of the meeting to celebrate the title today. U of L will then tour the Capitol building as guests of Senator Mitch McConnell.

Members of the U of L team and staff will bring President Obama a couple of gifts and will also be wearing their new championship rings.

"I want to ask him why he didn't pick us," senior Luke Hancock said with a laugh last week when asked if he had a message for the President. Obama picked Indiana to win the NCAA Championship last season.
