Pitino watches six prospects on day one

LAS VEGAS - One day after spending time with President Obama at the White House, University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino was back on the road recruiting on Wednesday evening. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

Rick Pitino was back on the recruiting trail on Wednesday night, checking out at least six top prospects for the Cardinals.

Pitino and assistant coach Kevin Keatts began the final evaluation period of the summer at the adidas Super 64 watching Goodluck Okonoboh.

Pitino then also saw a bit of Scout.com's No. 1 junior Stephen Zimmerman before checking out '14 target Jaylen Johnson with Dorian's Pride.

And then it was off to the Fab 48 tournament at Bishop Gorman High School.

Assistant Mike Baladao joined Pitino and Keatts to go three-deep for commitment JaQuan Lyle and target Cliff Alexander against target Myles Turner.

The U of L coaches also saw the end of the Belmont Shore-MWA game, which featured top juniors Tyler Dorsey and Malik Newman.

Pitino is expected to be in Vegas until Friday evening.
